BIM detailed design for structural rehabilitation

The rehabilitation of the viaduct involves the complete reconstruction of the deck of the carriageway towards Catania, from pier 15 to the Catania abutment (105 spans) for a total length of 3,570 meters.
The objective of the Contracting Authority is to restore the full traffic capacity of the viaduct, with two lanes, by completely rebuilding the deck while preserving the current piers, abutments, and foundations, reinforcing their structure where necessary.
BIM modeling was essential for managing the design decisions and handling complex federated models, as well as for addressing the existing conditions and proposed interventions.
